When everything is flowing smoothly and the messages are getting delivered to the right address, the process is seamless, and you generally will feel well. Sometimes though, for a whole variety of reasons, your internal delivery system experiences some challenges and this can play a huge role in how you are feeling.

Identifying where the glitch is
If you feel your hormones have gone a bit haywire, our naturopaths will work with you to identify where your delivery system has gone off track. It could be:
You don’t have enough or you have too many packages to send
If your body isn’t making enough of the hormones you need, the message isn’t going to get out to where it needs to be. On the flip side, if your body is in overdrive and is making too much, your body can become overwhelmed and the packages build up at their destination before they can be used properly.
Everything works perfectly, but you have a pesky neighbour who keeps on pinching your packages
Sometimes hormonal imbalances actually have nothing to do with your hormones, but rather another system of the body (like your immune system) can hijacking the smooth operation of your delivery system and leave you short of the information you were waiting on.
Your staff are poorly trained or keep getting lost
Even if you have the right types of hormones and delivery system in place, if they aren’t making it to the appropriate destination, your special packages may as well have never been sent in the first place. This can also then create further flow on disasters as your body tries to return them to the sender.
You have the right package, but they are getting delivered to the wrong address
Again, if we can’t get the packages of information to where they should be going, the recipient will never get the message for what they are supposed to be doing.
You don’t have enough staff
Your body might be producing the right amount of hormones, but if you can’t transport those hormones around (or get rid of them after they have done their job) this also can create some problems.
When most people tend to think of ‘hormones’, they usually just think of those ones used for reproduction.
While there are several hormones in this category, we also have hormones responsible for stress management, metabolic health, growth and development, homoeostasis (or the way our bodies control our internal balance), the sleep-wake cycle and mood.

Hormonal imbalances, could I have one?
Hormonal imbalances affect different people in different ways, but some of the common experiences people go through when a hormonal imbalance is present include:
- Women’s health issues including PMS, painful periods, heavy periods, irregular periods, PCOS, fertility challenges or miscarriages.
- Peri-menopause or menopausal challenges including hot flushes, stubborn weight gain or difficulty losing weight, night sweats, insomnia.
- Changes to their mental health including mood swings, irritability, being quick to anger, teariness for no real reason, depression and anxiety.
- Male health issues including prostate problems, erectile dysfunction or difficulty gaining muscle mass despite exercising well.
- Challenges losing weight or being able to maintain a comfortable weight despite doing everything ‘right’.
- Sleep disturbances or difficulty falling or staying asleep.
You first need to understand which part of your delivery system isn’t working as it should. Your naturopath will work with you to take a detailed case history to piece together what is going on and then formulate an individualised treatment plan to help you get things flowing as they should.
