Environmental Toxins

Sometimes things in our environment can make us sick without us even realising. It’s important for us to identify these things so we can address them appropriately and as quickly as possible.

Heavy metals

Heavy metal toxicity is a common issue in Australia and lots of people are widely affected by this condition. Heavy metals, such as mercury, lead and aluminium, accumulate in the body over time and are suspected to lead to a wide spread of symptoms and health conditions. Heavy metal toxicity is caused primarily by the levels of pollution and use of chemicals that we are exposed to on a day to day basis.

This test uses a urine sample to test for fourteen toxic metals. Your naturopath may suggest this test if you have any one of the following conditions:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety or bipolar
  • Brain fog or memory
  • Immune dysfunction or autoimmunity
  • Thyroid dysfunction
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Muscular skeletal conditions including fibromyalgia
  • Skin conditions like acne, eczema etc.

Mould testing

Sicknesses from mould exposure and toxicity in Australia, particularly along the East Coast is becoming an increasing issue, especially since the floods/high rain fall of 2022. There are several types of moulds that you can have in your home, some of which you may not even be able to see.

When we are constantly exposed to mould our immune system can become overwhelmed and start producing several side effects including:

  • Allergy-like symptoms including runny nose, congestion, sneezing, coughing and sore throats.
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Lung irritation, tight chest or wheezing.

In some instances, if an individual is exposed to a particularly toxic type of mould or has had high exposure to mould, they may experience:

  • Cognitive impairment (e.g. poor memory, fuzzy thinking, trouble focusing and staying on task).
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Unexplained depression, anxiety or mood swings

Your naturopath will work with you to take you through the variety of different mould testing profiles and if identified, will design a treatment plan to help you overcome these issues.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have some questions about how sessions work, costs or how to get started?

It’s as simple as booking your appointment! This can be done through our secure online booking system.

Your consultation will typically go for an hour (or 75 minutes if you have chosen the comprehensive testing option) and will involve your naturopath asking you lots of different questions about your health and current concerns. They will piece together what is going on and then take you through your treatment/management strategy. They will then arrange a follow up appointment, which is usually 2 – 4 weeks from your initial. If there is any additional testing/investigations that need to be done in between, your naturopath will take you through all these.

Find out more about how we work.

  • Standard initial consultation (60 minutes) – $220  (can be face to face or online)
  • Initial consultation with comprehensive testing (75 minutes) – $280 (can only be done face to face)
  • Report of Findings Consults (your first follow up – 45 minutes) – $160 (can be face to face or online)
  • Standard follow up (30 minutes) – $95
  • Comprehensive Follow up (45 minutes) – $160 (can be face to face or online)

It takes as long as it takes. While we would love to be able to give you a definitive ‘xx number of consults and you’ll be cured’ the reality is everyone is different and their bodies progress at different rates. As a very rough guide, we should be seeing some changes within 4 – 6 weeks but your naturopath will work closely with you to make sure things are moving in the right direction. If not, they will talk you through a variety of different options which may include more in-depth testing.

Our (physical) naturopathic clinic has recently had a tree change and moved from Surry Hills (Sydney) to Camden, roughly an hour from Sydney. Consults can be done face to face or you can take advantage of our telehealth options and speak to one of our naturopaths from anywhere in the world!
